Potential IBA

Linn County

Directions:  Pinicon Ridge Park borders Central City at the city's northwest corner. The entrance is indicated on state hwy. 13 in town.

There are unfortunately virtually no recent bird data for the area published in Iowa Bird Life or found in past on-line RBAs. Although the data in the Iowa Breeding Bird Atlas (1996) are earlier than is required of the IBA criteria, IBA High Conservation Priority birds noted there for Pinicon Ridge include: American Woodcock, Prothonotary Warbler, and Bobolink as “Confirmed”; Pileated Woodpecker as “Probable”; and Wood Thrush and Loggerhead Shrike as “Possible.”
