Lake Wapello State Park

Potential IBA

Davis County

Directions:  From Drakesville, travel west on HWY 273 and northwest for about 5 miles and enter the park on the northeast corner.

Description:  This 1150 acre area is comprised of a variety of habitats from older oak woodland to prairie remnants. Evidence of nesting was found for 75 species during Breeding Bird Atlas. Priority species include chuck-will's widow, wood thrush, grasshopper sparrow, and bobolink. I suspect black-billed cuckoo, loggerhead shrike, and yellow-breasted chat could also be found here.
