Wildcat Den State Park
Potential IBA
Muscatine County
Directions:
From Davenport, Iowa it can be reached from Highway 61 or 22. Follow signs from each highway to various entry points of the park.
Description:
There are many species of neo-tropical birds in this park. Breeding Cerulean Warblers, Kentucky Warblers, Wood Thrushes and Pileated Woodpeckers have been seen in this park. The woodlands in this park are unique because they are thick and dense. The park is surrounded by agricultural lands, farms and fields. There are deep ravines and a river that pass through this park making the habitat very good for woodland species. In the spring and fall signficant species concentrations are present. On a migration day this spring I observed 10 species of warblers in less than an hour.
